Christmas 2007
Hundreds of community residents packed the aisles or stood at the back of the church to see their children singing and performing the Christmas play. The annual Christmas pageant and celebration was held at the Mission's House of Prayer church in December. The Navajo Mission School produced a wonderful play about the birth of Jesus. All grades participated, and there were shepherds, wise men, angels, animals, and lots of cute little sheep, as well the stars of the show, Joseph and Mary.
After the pageant, all the community members were invited to the school for some refreshments and to pick up the traditional Quilts that are so popular here. In addition, winter coats were given to both children and adults, and community children received several toys and other presents. Over 190 elderly and needy residents also received food boxes, given out the same day.
Thanks to all the wonderful individuals and churches that made this celebration possible. All the quilts were lovingly made by donors, and coats, toys, and other Christmas presents were sent by people from all over the country. The food boxes were made available by people who gave donations so families would have a special Christmas this year. And a big thanks to the church groups who drove many hours to be with us, the community residents who helped to distribute the items, and the staff who worked so hard to make the evening a success!
